Say hello to the glowing phantom of the isopod world — the Yellow Ghost!
With their pale lemon-yellow coloration and smooth, glossy bodies, these striking Porcellio look like living sunlight. Rare, eye-catching, and fast-growing, they are a must-have for collectors who love bold, unusual morphs.
Origins & Appearance
Originally from southern Spain, Porcellio bolivari is a large, hardy species. The “Yellow Ghost” morph displays a stunning soft yellow to pale cream body, often with a faint translucent glow. Adults can reach 2.5–3 cm, making them one of the larger and more impressive display isopods.
Behaviour & Habitat
Unlike many Cubaris species, Yellow Ghosts are active, fast-moving, and surface-visible, making them excellent display isopods. They thrive in drier, well-ventilated enclosures with a humid retreat area. Cork bark, leaf litter, and rocky hides mimic their natural Mediterranean habitat.
Diet & Care
Yellow Ghost Isopods are voracious detritivores and will happily consume leaf litter, rotting wood, vegetables, calcium sources, and protein foods such as fish flakes or shrimp. They are tough, fast-breeding, and forgiving, making them ideal for both beginners and serious breeders.
