Say hello to the workhorses of the isopod world — the Powder Blue Mix!
Fast, hardy, and incredibly adaptable, these colorful little cleaners are a staple in bioactive setups. With a mix of blue, orange, white, and mottled morphs, every colony becomes a living mosaic.
Origins & Appearance
Originally from the Mediterranean region, Porcellionides pruinosus is a small to medium species that grows to about 1–1.5 cm. The “Powder” name comes from their slightly dusty, matte-looking exoskeleton, and the mix includes several stunning color morphs in one colony.
Behaviour & Habitat
Powder Blues are extremely active and fast-moving. Unlike many shy species, they spend lots of time on the surface, making them great to watch. They thrive in moderate humidity with good ventilation and appreciate cork bark, leaf litter, and a moist hide.
Diet & Care
These isopods are powerhouse cleaners, devouring leaf litter, decaying wood, leftover food, vegetables, and protein. They breed very quickly, making them ideal for clean-up crews and feeder colonies. Easy to keep and very forgiving.
