Say hello to the superstar of the isopod world — the Rubber Ducky isopod! Known for their adorable yellow "face" markings and pill-bug-like shape, these quirky crustaceans have become a favorite among collectors and hobbyists.
-
Origins & Appearance
Native to the limestone caves of Thailand, Rubber Ducky isopods belong to the genus Cubaris. They’re small, usually measuring around 1.5–2 cm, and are instantly recognizable by their bright yellow “face”, dark body, and rounded profile — giving them that signature duck-like appearance.
-
Behaviour & Habitat
These shy and slow-moving isopods prefer high humidity, stable temperatures, and plenty of hiding places. Being a cave-dwelling species, they love to burrow and hide under rocks, cork bark, or moss. They're also more sensitive than beginner species and benefit from a well-established, bioactive enclosure.
-
Died & Care
Rubber Duckies are detritivores, feeding on leaf litter, decaying wood, and calcium-rich supplements. They require consistent moisture and good ventilation, and their care can be a bit advanced — but their charm makes it all worth it.
